Fallout 76 is here, and as you head out of the Vault to explore the wasteland of West Virginia, you're going to want to find yourself a power armor frame as soon as you can. Power armor is a staple for kicking in the door in any Fallout game, giving you extra damage protection and letting you carry more loot.
Here's how power armor works in Fallout 76 and where to find it.
The wasteland’s most functional fashion
Like many of Fallout 76’s features, finding and equipping power armor feels mostly similar to Fallout 4. The best change to the way that power armor works is that once you’ve claimed a frame, it cannot be taken without your permission. You can step into any empty power armor frame you find, and it will become exclusively yours. When you're not wearing it, you can carry it with you in your inventory.
That means neither your friends nor griefers in Fallout 76’s online world are going to be joyriding in your newly-painted T-51 armor (the way settlers in Fallout 4 had a habit of doing) and definitely no more “Dude, where’s my power armor?”
If you reach a location and the armor isn't there, that means someone else probably grabbed it first. It will respawn, but it may take some time and you may need to leave and return later to claim it.
Here are the some locations where you can find power armor, followed by some tips on how to use it.
Morgantown Train Yard
Difficulty level: A few ghoulish guards
The Morgantown Train Yard is a short walk straight East from Vault 76, making this one of the closest locations you can grab some power armor quickly. It’s close to the low level areas of the game so other players are more likely to have gotten to it first, so you may have to wait a while for it to respawn.
The train car you’re looking for, as show in the video above, is East of the central tower of the train yard. It has USA painted on the side, sits directly next to one of the large buildings, and has a makeshift ramp leading into the train car.
Morgantown Warehouse
Difficulty level: Watch your step
Another power armor suit can be found in a two-story warehouse in Morgantown just West of a factory called Mama Dolce’s. (If you can't see the video embedded above, it's also here on YouTube). The factory will show up on your map, but the warehouse with the armor will not. This is another easy find, so long as the armor is waiting when you arrive, and it doesn’t require a quest to get to.
Beware of the traps like proximity mines and spikes guarding the warehouse entrances, and keep in mind, those traps respawn just like the armor does, so they may be reactivated if you leave and return a short while later.
Aaronholdt Homestead
Difficulty level: Keen eyes win a prize
Aaronholdt Homestead is about equidistant from Vault 76 as the Morgantown Train Yard, North and a bit West of Vault 76 (the Ferris wheel shown on your map is a good landmark), making this another possibly easy snag. It’s also in the opposite direction of the early quests leading towards Flatwoods, meaning other players may be less likely to stumble across it before you.
South of the homestead itself is a group of three silos with a large shed. You’ll need a key to the shed where the suit of armor is waiting. You can grab the key off the corpse of one Lowell Aaronholdt lying dead in a bathtub in a small lean-to east of the shed on a small hill.
Moundsville Penitentiary
Difficulty level: A short walk (and a lot of super mutants)
Moundsville Penitentiary is just slightly Northeast of Vault 76 and straight North of the Morgantown Train Yard. In the center of the penitentiary is a yellow building with a power armor suit inside. A few users on Reddit have confirmed seeing this set but we have yet to locate any screenshots (we'll add them when we find it ourselves). There are lots of super mutants occupying the prison, so bring some friends.
Seneca Gang Camp
Difficulty level: Not a mountain, but a molehill
This scrappy little fort by the side of the road doesn't look like much, and it's only guarded by a few mole miners (though mind the one with the missile launcher). Prince of tennis national tournament finals torrent. It barely even seems worth investigating, but inside the ramshackle barricades there's a frame and a few piece of armor waiting to be nabbed.
You'll find the camp just east of Route 63. It's south of the observatory, which is a good landmark to aim for on your map.
Pleasant Valley Cabins
Difficulty level: Heavy metal conflict
When you found the one you need, you can start transferring files via Bluetooth. Bluesoleil full 2019 bt. Your computer needs to be fitted with a Bluetooth deviceAfter installation completes, you need to restart the computer before being able to use the application as it needs to update some system files to successfully install the tool. BlueSoleil is a software solution that relies on this protocol for synchronizing or exchanging data between various devices. Backup and restore various itemsUsers also get the possibility to specify the type of Bluetooth device they want to use, as the application supports USB, UART, PCMCIA and BCSP. Needless to say, it also needs to run on a laptop that comes with Bluetooth or on a computer that has a dedicated dongle connected to it.In order to be able to use BlueSoleil, you need to turn on your Bluetooth, then start scanning the surroundings for compatible devices.
There's nothing pleasant about Pleasant Valley, at least not in Fallout 76. The entire area is swarming with mole miners and vertibots engaged in all-out war. If you fight your way through the massive skirmish, however, you'll find what looks like a Thunderdome-esque battle arena. At its center stands a power armor frame.
The frame I found had raider armor pieces, which were level 15, so it's not a bad spot to look for pieces you can use earlier rather than later. Just bring lots of ammo.
Watoga
Difficulty level: These boots are made for walking
If you’re itching for a challenge like the players in the video above, you may find yourself in the far southeast of the map in a city called Watoga. It’s full of hostile protectrons and Mr. Handys that you’ll need to clear out. In the town square beneath the huge three-legged monument, in front of a building labeled “AMS” in neon letters, there’s a power armor suit waiting for you.
There’s an interesting quest in the city of Watoga but you shouldn’t need to engage with it at all if you really just want to grab the armor and run. This power armor location is less a matter of convenience and more just goes to show that if you’re stumbling around having an adventure as you’re meant to in Fallout, you’ll probably trip right over a set of power armor eventually.
Power armor tips
As in Fallout 4, power armor frames in Fallout 76 are independent of the armor pieces that can be equipped to the frame. Most often, you’ll come across a power armor frame with a helmet, leg pieces, or other armor already equipped. Early on, those pieces will probably be higher level than you are capable of using.
You can pull each armor piece off the stationary power suit the same way you pull other items out of containers. Once the frame is empty, you’re able to use it no matter your level. Even without armored sections, the base frame for a power armor suit will still provide benefits. It increases your radiation resistance, melee damage, and carry capacity.
Also like in Fallout 4, power armor runs on fusion cores that can be found around the world in generators or sometimes in general loot. Although fusion cores seem to last longer than in Fallout 4, you may still find yourself running empty eventually. You can continue to use power armor without a core, but you can't sprint or use VATS without a working core. To exit your armor, just step out (by holding down the E key) and then collect the frame into your inventory. It can also be stored in your camp stash if you don’t feel like toting around the extra 10 pounds of weight.
Finding a Fallout 76 power armor location can be a hit and miss affair, and if you're here for the Fallout 76 free week you want to avoid bumbling around hoping to see a set to take. The good news is that Fallout 76 power armour does tend to appear in the same locations on the Fallout 76 map, so while it doesn't always appear, and other people can take it before you get there, when you know where to look you can get some really quickly.
This list covered the easiest/quickest Fallout 76 power armor locations in the game. It's not an exhaustive list, just the best or quickest places to find it if you're low level or still at the start of the game. So it's all in easy to reach areas, with minimal threats and if any lock picking or hacking is required it's level 1 or 2 max.
Whatever you find, remember it's worth getting a few sets as it's tough to repair and tricky to get it all matching. Here's how to get started:
How to use Fallout 76 power armor
You’ll find Fallout 76 power armor scattered around the map, apparently in a mix of regular and random locations (check our Fallout 76 power armor location map below for more on that). Finding a set however is only the start of your mecha-suit journey as there’s more to things here than just finding metal legs and putting them on.
When you first find some Fallout 76 power armor you’ll have to strip off all the actual armor to leave a bare frame before you can get in it. This is because while there’s no level limitation on the frame, there will be on the armor pieces that equip on it, so the arms, legs, chest and helmet. The level restrictions break down as follows:
(There’s also a new form of mining armor, so far found in a T-51 variation, that boosts your efficiency and rewards when mining.)
So reiterate, you can wear the frame at any level, but you will need to be the appropriate level to equip any of the actual armor pieces on it. Even a bare frame has bonuses however, increasing strength, boosting all forms of damage resistance and making you immune to falling damage. You will however need a fusion core to power it, without one you won’t be able to run, use power attacks or aim with VATs. From what we’ve seen so far fusion cores can be found in generators that often appear near power armor locations and, if you see one, it’s likely worth checking to see if there’s some armor nearby.
So, when you first find some power armor you’ll need to take all the bits off (by storing them in your inventory) before you get in it. When you leave you’ll be able to ‘collect’ it which will add it to your apparel inventory. It’ll also be collected automatically if you leave the area, disconnect or enough time passes, so you don’t have to worry about losing it. As we understand the current system you can have as many sets you like but only ‘bind’ to one that then can’t be used (/stolen) by anyone else.
Fallout 76 power armor locations
So far we’ve discovered 15 Fallout 76 power armor locations of varying authenticity based on our own discoveries and that of the Fallout 76 community. It looks like they don’t always appear in a known location, although it’s not clear whether that’s due to someone else taking them first or because they’re randomly spawned. The yellow frame that supports them does seem to be constant though, so if you find one of those maybe try fast travelling away and back again to see if it respawns. It also looks like standalone suits of power armor can also appear in more random locations around the map without a stand. It’s possible that a better luck stat might help you there.
This is a work in process for the time being as we find, add and confirm more Fallout 76 power locations to the map (and feel free to add any you find in the comments below). For the time being these are locations where Fallout 76 power armor has been found so far.
1 Striker Row
The Ash Heap maybe isn't the best place to head to straight away as you'll need breathing protection and probably a half decent level to survive. But if you can make it there's some power armor out in the open in a rock alcove at Striker Row near some road barriers. There's also some in a Red Rockets station near by.
2 Nuka-Cola plant
You can’t really miss the Nuka-Cola plant once you get near it because the building is the shape of a giant bottle. Head south/south west of Vault 76 and you should find it near a fork in the river. Once inside (you might need to pick a lock) find the basement and look for a big room with a yellow crane/bulldozer type machine. You should find some power armor in the corner.
3 Point Pleasant
You might head Point Pleasant’s way to check out the Mothman Museum but while you’re there you can also grab some power armor. Look for a bridge in town, if you can find the church you should be near it - aim for the 'M' of the Mothman sign on the map and look for a green pharmacy. With the pharmacy on your left head up the stairs on your left and you should see a building with a hole smashed in the wall. Head through the hole and when you come out the other side take the stairs to the roof immediately on your left. You should see a wooden path other the top of the bridge, head over it and take the right hand fork you encounter about half way. Look down to your right as you reach the next rooftop and you should see some power armor near a red sofa.
4 WV Lumber Co
In the far north west of the map, near the river, you’ll find the WV Lumber Co. It’s a lumber Mill full of Super Mutants, so minus points. But there’s power armor, so every cloud.
5 Hornwright Industrial Mining Company
In Charlestown, south of Vault 76 near a river junction, you should be able to pick up a mission called The Motherlode involving a beacon that will take you to some power armor. It’s not a quick mission, involving getting keycards and completing an exam on a terminal but you’ll find some power armor at the bottom of some stairs along the way.
6 Unmarked cave
Head way north, directly above Vault 76 and look for an unmarked cave at a location called The Crosshair. There’s Raider Power armor inside.
7Aaronholdt Homestead
North, and a touch west of Vault 73, you’ll find a farm called the Aaronholdt Homestead. There’s a shed near several grain silos with a power generator outside (grab the core) and in there you’ll find some power armor waiting. You'll need to find the key if you can't pick it open, which is on a nearby body.
8 Moundsville Penitentiary, in the prison yard
There are a lot of Super Mutants around Moundsville Penitentiary so maybe not a place to hit up early on. When you can handle it, blast your way through the hole in the wall around the back and head for the building in the centre of the yard.
9 Morgantown Train Yard
Near MorganTown, east of Vault 76, you'll find a train yard. On the western side there's a watch tower and between the two warehouses in front of it you should find a green army train carriage. Inside you'll find some power armor.
10 Silo shed north of Billing Homestead
Directly north of the Nuka-Cola plant you’ll find the Billing Homestead, and in the northern part of that you’ll find some grain silos and a shed. Check the shed for some power armor.
11 Camp Venture
Find camp Venture in the south east of the map and you should find some power armor In the yard.
12 Watoga
Near the big tower in Watoga, in the south east of the map, you’ll find a crashed vertibird and signs of a fight. Right by the vertibird you’ll find some power armor on the floor. There's also some to find on the roof of a nearby emergency building.
13 Drop Site V9
In the far, far south east you’ll find a place called Drop Site V9. There’s some power armor in there, and in Survey Camp Alpha just to the west.
14 Clarksberg
Near Wavy Willard’s Water Park, a little ways south of it, you’ll find Clarksberg. It’s a small town and full of angry robots, apparently the only survivors of a human/machine labour dispute. Look for a tall building with a fire escape on the side that doesn’t reach the ground. Head behind it and you’ll find a barricade with “Man Before Machine” written on it and some stairs up. Follow that roof around to the right and you reach the fire escape. The power armor will be in the next floor up.
15 Belching Betty
You can find some power armor near Bernie, around the shaft at Burning Mine on the Eastern side of Ash Heap.
16 Arktos Pharma
When you reach the area look for the Arktos Pharma garage on the left hand side. Use the stairs and walkways over the buses to reach the hole in the ceiling and upper floors. The power armour is locked in a room behind a computer terminal with a hacking level of 0.
17 Wade Airport 1
At Wade airport you should find a small aircraft hangar at the northern end of the runway by the flight tower. There’s some power armor in the hanger.
18 Wade Airport 2
Look for the blue trailer at the southern end of the runway which has some power armor inside. You’ll need a lockpick skill level 2 to open the door but other than that it’s yours for the taking.
19 Silva Homestead
At the Silca Homestead look for a round barn with a red tractor inside. There should be some power armor in a power armor frame at the back of the building. You might find some radroaches in there but they're low level.
20 Black Bear Lodge
hen you get to Black Bear Lodge you should see a small barn with a fallen tree on it to the west of the bigger building. The power armor’s in there, just as you go in the door.
21 Poseidon Energy Plant WV-06
There are few buildings at the Poseidon Energy Plant but look for the biggest one with the blue pipes and these army vehicles outside three sets of doors. Go through any of the doors and straight ahead until you see these stairs going down. Follow the corridor around until you see a room with a workbench in and some power armor at the back.

I am still a bit confused about power armor in Fallout 4, especially since you can have several and do all the upgrades and such.
I recently came across my second power armor, but it was missing the legs and an arm. I searched all around the armor, but I did not come across the extra pieces. I still took the unit back to Sanctuary, and just set it to the side.
Where do I get the parts for my second armor? I can not find an option to make them; Is that possible, or do I have to find other units and scavenge parts off them to make a second fully loaded chassis? And if that is the case, what am I suppose to do with the old frames?
I was really slow on the uptake of damage and repair on my first suit, and I was worried that I lost all the pieces, but then noticed that they had been automatically added to my inventory. This allows me to repair them and equip them back on my armor. Is this a correct observation?

There are several ways to get armour pieces and/or frames.
From Exploration
Many of the power armour frames you will find will have randomly spawned pieces on them, and many will be incomplete. According to Fallout wiki, random spawns will be based on level: T-45 power armor pieces at level 1-17, T-51 power armor pieces at 18-30, T-60 power armor pieces at 24, and X-01 power armor pieces at level 26 or more.
There are a number of maps online (IGN, Fallout4map.com) which show the location of all the power armour frames in the game (both random and pre-set) among other things.
From Enemies
You will also find enemies wearing power armour (many of whom are pre-set). These enemies will not drop an armour frame but you can take the pieces off their corpse.
As mentioned in another answer you can take the frame if you make them exit the armour by getting behind them and targetting the fusion core in combat (or reportedly pickpocketing the fusion core before combat). Though apparently if you make an NPC get out of it's frame it will count as 'stealing' every time you use it.
From Vendors
If you join the Brotherhood of Steel you will be able to buy T-60 pieces and a frame from Proctor Teagan on The Prydwen (not sure if or how often he re-stocks, but he does restock).
Rowdy at Atom Cats garage will also sell individual pieces of T-45, T-51 and T-60 power armour and a frame (they also have some frames of T-60 standing around you could steal).
You can also buy an empty power armour frame from Commonwealth Weaponry in Diamond City and KL-E-0 in Goodneighbor (if you buy a frame it spawns on the nearby Power Armour service frame).
So Many Frames..
What to do with the spare frames is up to you, they appear to be indestructible, some people have suggested leaving them in lakes or something if you don't want to see them.
Repairing
Yes, broken pieces will be placed in your inventory, and can be repaired and placed back on a frame.

Others have already addressed most of the questions posed. Frames often spawn with random armor sections, and are often incomplete, the spawning is based on player level (T-45s up to level 17, T-51s at 18-30, T-60s at 24 and up, and X-01 at 26 and up.) and frames may not even have a fusion core to power them readily available nearby.
Another answerer has noted that enemies sometimes spawn in power armor, in particular Raider bosses, and when you kill them you can take the armor pieces but not the frame. This is a half-truth. If you kill them while they're wearing the frame, it is true you can't recover it, however if you can get them to eject the frame can be stolen.
Shooting out the fusion core of their armor, which is targetable in VATS and does very little HP damage to the NPC (but takes 'limb' damage easily) can destroy it. The core will enter melt down, and if the person has the time and the room, they'll jettison the core and try to move away from it, before it goes off like a nuke.
If they get out of range quickly enough, or simply survive the explosion, they'll climb out of their depowered suit to continue the fight, and leave the frame available for theft.
As for what to do with spare frames, I've been collecting them. At time of writing, there's 14 of them parked, lined up in neat rows, on the front lawn of my house in Sanctuary. If you leave fusion cores in the frames, NPCs will take them if a fight breaks out. Verified when (spoilers) the townspeople of Covenant turned against me, and stole the power armor I left parked out front of the gate.
Take the cores out to prevent NPCs from taking them, or leave them in advantageous places so settlers in towns you control can use them against raiders. I've heard that after a fight in a town, if you talk to the settlers you can tell them to get out of the armor but have not verified myself.
You can also arrange for humanoid companions to use power armor. Just order them to enter it, and talk to them again to tell them to get out. Best of all, while NPCs need fusion cores, followers do not.
All in all though, you yourself only ever need one frame, so it isn't necessarily advantageous to have more than two frames (one for you and one for your follower) recovered, and armor pieces are easier to store neatly, by sticking them in containers.
VinnyVinny
Where do I get the parts for my second armor? Various merchants will occasionally pieces of power armor. Rowdy at atom cats always has T-60 pieces in stock and usually has T-51 pieces and the occasional T-45 Piece as well (once found an X01 left leg there..if only I could find a left arm!)
I can not find an option to make them; Is that possible, or do I have to find other units and scavenge parts off them to make a second fully loaded chassis? If you scavenge parts from defeated opponents you have the option of repairing them and equipping them to ANY power armor frame you own at any power armor crafting site. (Yes, you can mix and match pieces from different suits on the same frame.) I can vouch for the 'shoot out the power core and then seal the armor after the fight' option (lol, see below). Just be careful, I ran into a bandit leader once who had 5 fraking fusion cores! I had to shoot out the core from the suit twice to win that one!
And if that is the case, what am I suppose to do with the old frames?I build myself a lovely 2 story garage in Sanctuary that houses the Power Armor spoils I've claimed thus far (something like 8 full raider suits, 3 partial X01s, 12-13 T-60s, 5 T-45s, and I think 8 T-51s). I don't know if they can be sold or not..never thought to try.
I was really slow on the uptake of damage and repair on my first suit, and I was worried that I lost all the pieces, but then noticed that they had been automatically added to my inventory. This allows me to repair them and equip them back on my armor. Is this a correct observation? When a piece of the power armor is damaged, it turns red in the HUD. Its still functional and providing protection at this stage.
When a piece of armor is damaged and reduced to zero hit points is it automatically unequipped from the frame and placed into your inventory.
At any time you can exit your armor at a power armor crafting site (I prefer walking straight up to it, doing a 180, taking a couple of (tiny) steps forward until I can exit the armor. Then just look straight down and select the option to CRAFT not transfer!) Once in crafting mode, you can check the 'health' of each piece and repair/upgrade as necessary.
Hope this helps!

If you have an item that sells for decent amount of caps, you can drop it and have dogmeat pick it up, right before he grabs it, take it. It will duplicate the item. Timing is everything. Rinse and repeat. Once you have enough, go to Atom Cat Garage and let the bartering begin.Unlimited money yo
